The Minister of Health, the Hon Dr Shane Reti, has agreed that the application for the regulation of the Physician Associate profession under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 should be progressed to the next stage. The Ministry of Health and NZPAS are currently working towards finalizing the acquisition of a regulatory body for the profession. Once that is complete, the application should go before the Cabinet members of Parliament for a final vote on Regulating the profession in New Zealand. (Source: NZ PAS)
